Linear equation in an equation of degree one. It can have any number of variables.

Example:

  • 3x+5=0
  • 3x+4y=7
  • 2x+2y+3z=9
  • All the above are examples of linear equation of degree one. Where as

large 3x^2+2y=9   :   is not a linear equation as it is an equation of degree two.
